Description
Associate Veterinarian: Join a Thriving, Independent Legacy in Ithaca
The VCI Legacy: Independent, Progressive, and Community-Rooted
Veterinary Care of Ithaca (VCI) isn't just a clinic; we are a landmark. For over 70 years, we’ve remained independently owned, serving the Ithaca community with a commitment to medical excellence that spans from pediatric wellness to advanced geriatric internal medicine.
We believe that high-level medicine and a healthy personal life aren't mutually exclusive. At VCI, you’ll find a warm, welcoming environment and a sophisticated clientele that empowers you to practice the kind of preventive and diagnostic medicine you were trained for.
The Tech You Need to Excel
Our recently renovated, modern facility is designed for efficiency and diagnostic precision. We’ve invested in the tools so you can focus on the patient:
- Imaging & Diagnostics: Digital radiography, Dental X-ray, Ultrasound, Tonopen, and a full in-house Idexx Laboratory Suite.
- Seamless Workflow: Automatic record integration from both Idexx and Cornell Animal Health Diagnostic Lab.
- Patient Comfort & Safety: Feline Friendly and Fear Free certified, featuring lift tables and upgraded surgical equipment.
- Advanced Care: Therapeutic laser and comprehensive multi-function monitoring.
A Schedule That Protects Your Sanity
We don’t just "value" work/life balance—we build it into the workflow:
- Dedicated Case Management: Structured time is built into your daily block for charts and client follow-ups.
- Smart Booking: The final appointments of every morning and afternoon are reserved for wellness visits, ensuring you finish your day on time.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a collaborative, emotionally mature DVM who thrives in a team-centric environment but is confident working independently. If you are enthusiastic about client communication and clinical excellence, you’ll fit right in.
- Clinical Interests: While proficiency in surgery and dentistry (spays, neuters, mass removals) is a plus, we prioritize the right cultural fit and a passion for patient care.
- Requirements: NYS License in good standing; DVM/VMD; 1+ years of experience preferred; Fear Free certification (or willingness to obtain).
The VCI Investment in You
We offer a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to support your professional growth and personal well-being:
- Financial: Competitive base salary + production, 401K with employer match.
- Health: Medical insurance (employer-contributed) and an Employee Assistance Program.
- Professional Growth: CE allowance, VIN membership, and coverage for dues, licenses, and AVMA PLIT.
- Perks: Generous pet discounts, uniform allowance, and paid Fear Free certification.
- Recharge: Generous PTO and paid holidays.
