Woodside Equine Clinic offers externship opportunities for veterinary students interested in equine medicine. Our externship program is designed to provide hands-on clinical exposure while allowing students to learn alongside our veterinarians, interns, and technical staff in a collaborative and supportive environment. Externs participate in both hospital and ambulatory services, observing and assisting with a variety of cases including wellness care, lameness evaluations, diagnostic imaging, surgery, emergency care, and sports medicine. Students are encouraged to ask questions, engage in case discussions, and gain a deeper understanding of clinical decision-making and patient care. Through this experience, externs gain practical insight into equine veterinary practice while developing clinical skills, professional communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced referral hospital setting. Our goal is to create a meaningful educational experience that supports the next generation of equine veterinarians.

Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in an accredited veterinary school. Must complete and submit the externship application available on our website. Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians, interns, technicians, and support staff. Willingness to be engaged, ask questions, and actively participate in the learning experience. Maintain professionalism and respectful communication with clients and team members. Our externship program is designed for students who are motivated to learn, eager to be part of a team, and excited to gain hands-on experience in a busy equine practice.
